MONDAY 16th OCTOBER 1939.German aircraft make the first attack on Britain by trying to bomb the Forth Bridge at Edinburgh. Although not a target of great importance, it was regarded that the bombing run was just an exercise for the german Luftwaffe pilots. No damage was done and three German aircraft were shot down.
